Jesus, the Son.

1st John 4:15: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.

Here, John tells us how we can know if God abides in us: If we confess that Jesus is the Son of God.

If we confess that Jesus is the Son of God we show that God abides in us; but how does confessing Jesus as the Son of God show us that God is in us? Well, if you confess that Jesus is the Son of God, then you are saying quit a few things:

1. Jesus is the Son of God.

2. Jesus is the Savior of the world: Remember, God sent His only Son, Jesus, into the world to save it (John 3:17: “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” ).

3. Jesus and God the Father are one, and so Jesus is God Himself: (John 10:30: “I and the Father are one.”)

But how are you saying all of these things by calling Jesus the Son of God? Well, if Jesus is the Son of God, then He must also be Savior of the world. And if He is the Son, then, as Jesus said, He and the Father are one, and if they are one, then Jesus is God Himself. The trinity is very hard to explain and I am only going to touch on it, but basically is consists of; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are all one, and yet they each are different from each other. Now back to my topic: If we confess that Jesus is the Son of God, then we must also believe the other things about Him, and if we believe those things, then we are saved, and thus God lives in us.

What about you? Have you confessed Jesus to be the Son of God, and so show that God abides in you? Or are you still living a life apart from God? If you are the first, praise God! God Himself abides in you, and has called you to Himself. In the way of instruction, remember the gospel, and preach it boldly. But if you are the second: I hope that you will call out to Jesus today, asking Him for forgiveness of sins, and freedom from a life in darkness.

Have you ever thought about just how great Jesus is? He is the Son of God, but because of His great love for us, He came down to save us from our sins by dying on a cross the worst possible death of that era. He suffered and died, so that we might be healed, and live. He become sin it’s self, so that we might have our sin removed. How great is Jesus!

Heavenly Father, I thank You, for how sending Your Son into this world, so that we might be saved. And Jesus, I thank You, for showing Your great love for us, thank You for cleansing me, and for completely changing me. Holy Spirit, I ask You, to please remind me of the gospel every day, and help us to preach it boldly as we should. In Jesus’ name, amen.
